Dating online can be a little awkward at first as it’s a completely different environment. But it really is not that scary as it looks like! People use dating online services for a variety of reasons – they may be shy, do not have time for real life dating or may just want to meet people from outside of their circle. It is sure – nowhere in real life you can meet so many different people!

Before you start dating online you need to know what you’re looking for. Is this friendship, fun, casual sex, love, relationship? As we said before – there are lots of different people online, you will find someone regardless of what you’re looking for. But first YOU need to know that, so you can plan your actions accordingly.

There are a number of online dating services and each of them is different. There are few that are free to use, but most of them you have to pay for to use their full potential. You should choose up to 3 services that you will use fully. More of them will just spam your mailbox and distract you from meeting quality people. Our advice is to register with few services (they always have a free option to get a feel of their website) and choose the ones that you like the most. They will differ in terms of profile creation, communication systems (some guide the communication, some leave it all for you), communication methods (some offer mobile or facebook applications etc.), also matching systems differ between various services. It all depends on what you’re looking for.

Once you choose the dating services you want to use it’s time for profile creation. We will elaborate more on this one in a separate article, but just to mention the basic thing – BE HONEST. Honesty is the most important thing to remember when creating your online profile. Whatever it is that you look for, it won’t suit you when you lie in your profile. You want people to like you for who you really are, and not the person you create.

Then you can start communicating! In most services it will be paid option. Some online dating services offer free communication but this bears some risks – anyone can register and communicate with you, and chances are higher that they will lie about who they really are. So if you treat your online dating seriously we suggest using paid services – just for the sake of security.

Last but not least, HAVE FUN! That’s what this is all about – having fun :) We do realize it can be awkward at times, but don’t let this discourage you. Online dating can be a lot of fun, you can meet lots of wonderful people! And who knows, maybe you’ll start some life-time friendships!
